CMS Announced They Will Require All Providers And Suppliers To Revalidate Their Enrollment Before March 2013

As required by the Affordable Care Act as a means to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse, CMS issued a notice today requiring all providers and suppliers who enrolled in Medicare before March 15th this year to revalidate their enrollment before March 2013. Those providers and suppliers who enrolled after that date have already gone through the enhanced screening. Following is the statement from CMS. CMS Issues SNF Final Rule

CMS issued its Final Rule yesterday with an 11.1% reduction in overall payments. All of the other proposals of the Interim Rule were kept. We will review the posted rule and provide additional specific information. We will be including training on the new assessments as well as the updates to group, set-up time and the assessment windows in our upcoming Mastering Medicare series. Two Studies Presented At The Alzheimer’s Association International Conference Address Falls Can Be One Of the Earliest Signs of Alzeimer’s As Well As Preventable With Lifestyle Changes

The Alzheimer’s Association International Conference held in Paris this month presented 2 studies on falls and a relationship to Alzheimer’s Disease. One study led by Susan Stark, Ph.D., assistant professor of occupational therapy and neurology at Washington University in St. Louis, followed 125 older adults currently enrolled in longitudinal studies of memory and aging at Washington University’s Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center for 8-months.
